Staying Healthy Amidst a Hectic Cam Schedule

Staying Healthy Amidst a Hectic Cam Schedule

Hello models, this month I want to talk about something that is very near and dear to you, your body. More specifically, how to make sure that your body is healthy during your time as a cam model. It seems pretty simple, but I think that many models lose sight of health while broadcasting.

So just a little background on me, one year ago, I was about 50 lbs. more than I am now, and the scary part was I had no idea how it happened. It was gradual and honestly it was a slow decline that I didn’t notice until I was so tired and grouchy at the end of the day. Stress was getting to me more than ever, so I did an inventory of my life and there are a few changes I made that I will share with you that has made my life better.

I was getting nowhere near enough rest and my body wanted more. I woke up like a zombie every day because my body wanted another two hours of sleep. Adjusting your sleep schedule will be the biggest change you can make for your body.

The first is rest. I was getting nowhere near enough rest and my body wanted more. I woke up like a zombie every day because my body wanted another two hours of sleep. Adjusting your sleep schedule will be the biggest change you can make for your body. Everyone’s body is different, but experts say that you need between five to eight hours of sleep every day to run efficiently.

The second is your diet and exercise. I was eating poorly and it showed. I would get bored and eat at all hours of the night and I’d eat my weaknesses all of the time: chips, Mexican food and pizza. I also drank a lot of soda, which is terrible. So the changes I made is I drink a ton of water every day and I eat a more balanced diet. The extra water is great for your skin, though it takes getting used to. I don’t eat between the hours of 8 p.m. and noon. That allows your body time to digest the food well and it’s also a good way to build will power, it’s tough to do that. The other component of exercise is important too. You’ll feel like a new person if you start going to yoga classes regularly. It’s like being the tin man and getting oil, your joints will feel better and your shows can be more dynamic too.

The third thing, which is often overlooked, is relaxing your mind. I mentioned stress earlier in the article and removing that from your life will do wonders for how your body feels. Let’s face it, life is stressful enough, storing it up isn’t making you feel any better today. There are a few fast things that you can do to help your stress level that won’t cost you anything. The first is, take five minutes before you go on camera, and close your eyes. Use that time to focus on your goals for the day and get yourself into a positive frame of mind. That’s a key to camming. Another thing to do is turn off your phone and lay in the sun. Vitamin D naturally lowers your cortisol levels and relaxes you. Just make sure to wear the appropriate sun protection. If it’s winter time and your area is prone to long winters, visit a tanning booth. It sounds silly but that will make you feel much better and battle the winter blues.

I hope these things help to relax you all in this pumpkin spice season. Until next time, if you have any questions, I have a new email address, steve@gamewithme.com.
