In the Company of Legends

Shayla LaVeaux has been a porn star for 20 years, and when she gets into a red bikini and turns on the heat, those years just melt away. The one-time ultimate sex kitten has matured into a confident cougar. With her full 34C natural tits, slim waist, doll face, and that husky sexy voice, she’s got her considerable assets in working order.

Shayla’s here at this hillside house in Porn Valley to do a sex scene with Sean Michaels for a new series “Legendary Players,” to be released by the new label Airerose Entertainment. The series is meant to pick up where the popular MILF line “Seasoned Players” left off. It will feature glamorous porn legends having sex with an iconic porn stud.

My job is to search out and bring these girls back — to satisfy the fantasies of those who want them to come back. -Sean Michaels

With Shayla still in makeup, Michaels preps the sparsely furnished living room with help from his hard-working cameraman Mario Rossi. He makes it clear that he’s not comparing himself to the former director of the line, but that he’s aiming to carry the concept forward.

“My job is to search out and bring these girls back — to satisfy the fantasies of those who want them to come back,” Michaels says.

He has already shot one scene with Nina Hartley, with Julia Ann scheduled for next week and Shayla today. For the fourth scene he’s still in search mode. He mentions a few famous names with whom he’s been negotiating, but nothing yet is final.

Nina and Julia Ann are definitely legendary, though there’s no question of “coming back” since both continue to work regularly.

Shayla LaVeaux doesn’t see this as a “comeback” either. She was one of the brightest stars in porn in the 1990s, emerging from Colorado with several other starlets, including Kylie Ireland, to become a fixture in big-budget productions from the top-tier directors at VCA Pictures. She was also a much in-demand feature dancer.

Then, early in the new millennium, she slowed down.

“I never fully retired,” she says. “I took a break and moved back to Colorado for eight years, for family matters. I’ve been traveling some, doing some bachelor parties, what I was doing before porn. A lot of my life over the past seven years has been very family-driven. My family needed me.

“Twenty years ago it would have been impossible for [a star her age] to come back. There was no MILF genre, now there’s a demand for cougars.” She actually shot with Byron for “Seasoned Players” in 2008.

She recently signed with the LAX agency — informally, no contract — and she’s made “a couple of trips out here” to work. “They’re doing a good job for me.”

“I do a little bit of dancing, not a lot. It’s a big investment to go out on the road, with bigger costumes. I’ve been doing a few things here and there. I’m back, but still commuting from Colorado.”

She’s been shooting Las Vegas, including a scene with Johnny Castle in “Pure and Mature” for Porn Pros. She has also worked for Brazzers. She does shoot content for her website, Shayla.com. Her Twitter handle is @ShaylaLaVeaux.

“There’s a lot more things you can do now, with social media. I’d love to do a feature project, but after all those 15-hour days for VCA with Michael Ninn and [the late] Jim Holliday, it’s a relief to do gonzo. You get in, have some fun … I’m enjoying it.”

But she’s aware how much the business, no longer feature-driven, has changed. “I don’t know if I could get into porn these days,” she muses. “I’m very vanilla.” She laughs that throaty chuckle.

This is Michaels’ directorial debut for Airerose. He’s been active in porn, first as an actor, later on and still as actor-director, for 23 years.

He left the Evil Angel directors stable — quite amicably — for this new deal. He’s shooting and starring in the all-anal “Daddy Knows Better,” a sequel to his Evil Angel line “Daddy Knows Best.”

It’s fitting that his first “Legendary” scene was with Nina Hartley. “She’s the one who brought me into the business and kept me in when I was discouraged.” The discouragement came from “racism issues” in porn in the ’90s. That this situation has completely changed is thanks in large part to the persistence of actors like Michaels.

Sean, who is working with a ghostwriter on an autobiography, says he’s inspired by the kind of sex put on screen by legends like Alex deRenzy and John C. Holmes. “They didn’t have Viagra when we came along,” he says, adding that with age he has come to be grateful for its existence. “On a bad day it doesn’t hurt me to take half a tab. So thank you!” He points toward heaven.

Shayla has changed into a sexy dress from one of the two suitcases stuffed with costumes and lingerie she showed up with.

As Mario shoots stills, she spreads her pussy for the camera, and then turns around. She uses baby oil on her butt. “One of the tricks of the trade,” she laughs. “It makes it all shiny.”

Sean tells her, “You got great boobs — we need to see ’em.”

Although their porn careers run parallel to each other, Shayla LaVeaux and Sean Michaels have never before done a sex scene together. So today’s encounter will be a thoroughly legendary first.

“This is history in the making,” Shayla says, grinning.

“We still enjoy it,” Sean agrees. “We’re bringing it!”
