What is your role and responsibility at Netbilling, Inc.?

My duties include actively participating in the sales department which consists of corresponding with potential customers and existing customers via phone, e-mail and of course, ICQ. Sign up and educate our referring partners. Oversee the merchant account acquisitions dept. and I work on developing new relationships with merchant banks. Also manage the sales staff, coordinate the trade shows, supervise a section of our technical team and watch over the office as a whole when necessary. In addition, I attend and work at most of the industry trade shows and events. I really enjoy my job and all its challenges!

Give us a typical Monday at your desk?

Ahhhh... Mondays. First I get my coffee, check my personal e-mails, call my Mom, look out the window to get my head in the right space, and then, about noon I get to work. No, just kidding!

Well, I guess it actually starts when I wake up at approx. 5:30am. My work day starts at 8am when I get to the office. I check my voice mail messages and return calls first, and then I check and return my e-mails. I actually check my e-mails several times over the weekend so I usually have a pretty good idea of what to expect, come Monday morning.

Once every question and inquiry is responded to, I start in on my follow up calls and e-mails that I schedule for myself using a tracking database. I am known as the “Queen of Follow Up” and in between outbound calls I also take incoming calls along with the constant replies to the never ending flow of e-mails. I don't leave the office for lunch but I do eat at my desk, I take a break or two with my co-workers throughout the day, but other than that I pretty much keep my nose to the grindstone. My work day ends at approx 5pm if I get everything done for that day. I never leave the office without first responding to every inquiry on a daily basis.

What do you think is your greatest challenge or asset being a woman in the adult industry?

I honestly haven't experienced many challenges based on the fact that I am a woman. I feel I have earned the recognition I have been given because I put my time in; I am very knowledgeable in my field I am dedicated to what I do and am always honest and forthcoming when dealing with people. My experience is, if you treat everyone with respect you will be treated in the same manner.

What strategies do you use to maintain balance in your life?

I am a planner, not so much on paper but in my head. I map out what needs to be done and when so I can fit everything into my schedule.

Also, I am definitely a creature of habit; I do the same things pretty much each day. When I maintain my daily routines it helps me to stay focused and be able to accomplish all my goals both in my professional and personal life. If I get out of sync it is difficult for me to get back in the “groove”. For example, when I have any personal appointments I prefer to make them in the afternoons once my “work day” has been completed so my days remain consistent.

What advice would you give other women who want to enter your field?

My best advice is to be open to new experiences and most of all, be open to learning and expanding your horizons. Just when I think I have seen it all or I know it all something comes along and surprises me. You will find in this industry you will meet an extraordinary number of wonderful people who are warm and genuine and willing to help you on your way. Appreciate it; most industries don't have the family atmosphere that the adult industry does. Be prepared to work hard and play even harder.

It's Time to Rock the Vote and Make Your Voice Heard

When I worked to defeat California’s Proposition 60 in 2016, our opposition campaign was outspent nearly 10 to 1. Nevertheless, our community came together and garnered enough support and awareness to defeat that harmful, misguided piece of proposed legislation — by more than a million votes.

Account-to-Account Payments: The New Banking Disruptor?

So much of our industry relies upon Visa and Mastercard to support consumer payments — and with that reliance comes increased scrutiny by both brands. From a compliance perspective, the bar keeps getting raised until it feels like we end up spending half our time making sure we are compliant rather than growing our business.
