Dev Depot: Pagelines, Advancing Wordpress

Advanced drag and drop design has come to the WordPress platform, enabling users to create high quality, interactive websites with just the click of a mouse.

Providing “professional websites for the rest of us,” PageLines is a code-free drag and drop developmental framework based on the Word-Press platform, allowing users to build professional websites “faster, easier and better than ever before.”

PageLines’ framework code is engineered specifically for SEO performance and includes many options for integrating social/viral marketing tools.

PageLines is installed as a theme within WordPress, leveraging its advanced content management capabilities, while providing full compatibility with its numerous plugins.

According to the publisher, PageLines’ framework code is engineered specifically for SEO performance and includes many options for integrating social/viral marketing tools. The PageLines Store brings a wide range of add-ons into the mix, providing plugins plus custom themes and more, for instant support of e-commerce applications, landing pages, and other site-specific needs.

PageLines’ Layout Builder allows its users to control the layout of their website on a page-by-page basis, by using the intuitive drag and drop layout editor and mode options; while its Color Control tool lets users control the entire color theme and background of their website with point-and-click simplicity.

On the technical front, PageLines includes the Twitter Bootstrap framework and what is reportedly the first-ever LESS CSS engine to be incorporated into a framework service. Typographical tools include support for more than 100 fonts using the Google Fonts API, backed by a live font picker that enables users to preview and control typeface selections; while shortcode support includes an extensive library allowing the easy addition of alerts, buttons, modals and more, without the need for coding expertise.

Designed from the ground up to be fully responsive, PageLines works great in mobile browsers, including on iOS devices such as Apple’s iPhone and iPad.

Using PageLines is like playing with building blocks and might best be described as similar to Microsoft FrontPage — with 12 years of evolution smoothing out the wrinkles. As a highly visual tool, PageLines lets users easily experiment with multiple designs and to add sophisticated features such as a forum, with the click of a button; while a feature-laden “developer” version enables anyone to setup a small design shop and make money.

Considering its capabilities, time-saving benefits and reasonable pricing, PageLines is an intriguing option for developers using the WordPress platform.
