Pictomio Raises Bar for Image Management

According to its publisher, Pictomio (www.pictomio.com) is freeware that raises the bar when it comes to displaying 3D-accelerated photo and video collections. What sets the product apart from other image management applications, however, is its advanced image geo-tagging features.

Included with Pictomio is pictoGEO, a plug-in that automatically adds geographic information to digital photos by using an in-camera data logger that allows the import of .nmea and .gpx files.

What sets the product apart from other image management applications, however, is its advanced image geo-tagging features.

Pictomio manages image and video archives, grouping media according to orientation, time, type, size, and rating, etc. It provides thumbnails for both still images and video clips and allows videos to rotate and zoom. Its Library system displays photos by the date taken and by EXIF values, such as the type of camera used, as well as sorted by category and by album.

3D Image Carousels let users browse images using a visually engaging display, the direction of which is controllable by the mouse. Slideshows and other features, such as a color pipette, image measuring tool and dynamic controls that provide access to comprehensive rating and filter functions, boost the program’s value, as does the quality zooming using Mip levels for alias reduction.

Pictomio supports an extensive set of languages.

Pictomio requires a ShaderModel 2.0 graphics card with at least 128 MB of graphics memory.
