The Canadian government released its report on a controversial "online harms" bill today, highlighting concerns raised by stakeholders and sending it back to the drawing board.
A U.K. parliamentary committee published earlier this week a report on the draft of a restrictive Online Safety Bill being actively promoted by Boris Johnson’s government, several Labor MPs and virtually all the U.K. press.
Boris Johnson’s Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden delineated his government’s proposal for a U.K. “Online Harms Bill” before parliament today, giving watchdog entity Ofcom regulatory power to “block access to online services” that are found to “fail to do enough to protect children and other users.”
