Electronics maker Ricoh may soon have a solution for consumers wary of adopting the wrong next-generation DVD format. The company said that it has developed an optical component capable of reading and writing across a number of formats such as Blu-ray, HD DVD, standard DVD and CD using a single pickup and one objective lens.
