CBC Blogger: VP Nom Palin Looks Like a 'Porn Star'

TORONTO — Our neighbors to the north have a strong opinion of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

In a recent "Viewpoint" piece by Canadian author and blogger, Heather Mallick, Palin was described as having a "toned-down version of the porn actress look favored by this decade's woman, the overtreated hair, puffy lips and permanently alarmed expression."

Mallick's post derides the Republican party, adding "It's possible that Republican men, sexual inadequates that they are, really believe that women will vote for a woman just because she's a woman. They're unfamiliar with our true natures. Do they think vaginas call out to each other in the jungle night?"

CBC Ombudsman Vince Carlin told FOX News there have been "quite a few complaints about [the column], both from Canada and the U.S." He noted that Mallick is a "columnist not a journalist."

The blog post has generated wide discussion both domestically and internationally. As of publication, the post has generated more than 1,400 comments. Canadian media follows the 2008 presidential election closely.

The author, Heather Mallick, is a well-known writer based in Toronto. She has won National Newspaper Awards for critical writing and feature writing. She is published in Toronto-based Globe and Mail as well as the online version of the popular British paper The Guardian.

Palin's nomination has been targeted by the media and online communities. Tina Fey's widely acclaimed portrayal of the VP nominee on NBC's Saturday Night Live has led the actress to state that "I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5. So, if anyone can help me be done playing this lady, that would be good for me."

Palin's gender has become a topic in the electronic, as well as traditional, media. A recent addition to the popular site Twitter now includes a feed by "Sarah Palin's Vagina" in which viewers can stay current with the nominee's genitalia's recent doings.
