“Blue Movie” is the directorial debut of performer Steve Cruz. It films later this month in Los Angeles.
Oppedisano’s work has been seen in publications ranging from the New York Times to Playboy and Esquire magazines.
Much of his work, including photobooks “Testosterone” (Gmunder, 2006) and “Uncensored” (Provocateur, 2008), feature gay adult performers. Cruz was photographed for and appears on the cover of “Uncensored.”
“Joe’s photography is raw, bold, uninhibited and masculine,” Troy Prickett, Falcon’s director of promotion, said. “His style is immediately recognizable and perfect for our Mustang line of films.”
This will not be Oppedisano’s first foray into gay adult photography. He was the principal glamour photographer on “Michael Lucas’ La Dolce Vita 1-2,” the 2006 blockbuster release from Lucas Entertainment.
He also shot glamour stills for three Mustang films: “Afterhours” in 2007, as well as “Forced Entry” and “Limits” in 2006, where he first met Cruz.
“I’m a huge fan of Joe’s photography and I’m very excited to work with him again,” Cruz said. “Because his background is fashion he brings a fresh perspective to male erotica. His aesthetic is exactly the tone we are looking for.”
Oppedisao said Cruz has become “something of a muse,” and cited his “infectious energy and over-the-top sexuality” as an inspiration.
Cruz told XBIZ the forthcoming film is “a movie about shooting a porn movie, and the idea of voyeurism. It’s a theme Joe has been exploring in his work already and we’ll develop that further in this first production.”
He stressed Oppedisano’s background in fashion as a plus. “His perspective on shooting male erotica comes from a place outside of the porn standard,” Cruz said. “Porn is simply another medium for him; he’s a true artist. He captures filth with elegance like no one else can.”
“Blue Movie” films later this month for a Dec. 23 street date. The cast currently includes erotica legend Zak Spears alongside Dillon Buck, Scott Campbell, Adam Herst, CJ Madison, Nick Moretti, Nick Piston and Colton Steele.
