City Councilman Resigns After Porn Found on Laptop

MINNEOLA, Fla. — The Orlando Sentinel has reported that a central Florida city council member resigned last week after almost 4 gigabytes worth of adult content was found on his city-issued laptop.

The porn was discovered on council member Joe Teri’s hard drive by another staff member after a city council meeting the night before.

The porn on Teri’s computer was discovered when council members were told to turn in their city-issued computers after the meeting so that city staff could update the software.

City manager Sam Oppelaar was alerted and he informed the sheriff’s office to investigate the matter.

Oppelaar then drafted a letter of resignation, which Teri signed Wednesday afternoon before 5 p.m.

Oppelaar said none of the content found on Teri’s computer involved children, and that he did not influence Teri’s decision to step down.

"I in no way coerced him to do anything," Oppelaar said in the article. "I simply told him I have a computer that has something on it that shouldn't be there."

When questioned about the matter, Teri asserted only that he viewed the material while he was off the clock.

"I may have viewed some material that some people think is inappropriate; others wouldn't think it's inappropriate. I certainly understand that,” he said. “But I did it on my own time in the evening."
