“I developed the greatest respect for Jim during my time at LFP and cannot imagine a better partner to launch a venture with,” Hamilton said.
The new company began operation this month and will release its title in September, Hamilton told XBiz. Pulse recently was selected to distribute film's from San Francisco-based Falcon Studios. Hamilton said the company will be announcing three additional distributions deals within the next two weeks.
"The main reason we decided to do both production and distribution is that we saw an opportunity to sign some great directors for our own productions without them conflicting with the titles we distribute," Hamilton said.
Kohls said he envisions the company partnering with a variety of adult brands across all media formats and with studios representing a range of styles, from feature films to upper-end gonzo releases.
While Kohls did not mention specific studios by name, he said the emphasis will be finding brands that compliment each other well and helping studios maximize revenues.
“We have already received a number of commitments from studios and directors,” he said, adding that more the company will announcement deals as they are signed in the coming weeks.
Pulse Pictures, the company's studio division, will release four titles a month, mostly "high-quality gonzo," according to Hamilton, but also will remain open to working with directors and producing movies outside the gonzo genre when opportunities arise that they feel they should not pass up.
