The contest, a repeat of a similar contest run for the original "Pirates," will run through Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. Here's how it works:
Digital Playground is challenging retailers to build the most entertaining, compelling and appealing pirate-themed displays in their stores to promote "Pirates II." Once a retailer has built a display, they can visit PiratesXXX.com/contest and click "admin" to upload pictures of it.
First prize is $10,000, second is $5,000 and third is $2,500. Digital Playground will also be offering 47 other prizes to participants, including DVDs, Blu-rays and autographed posters.
Fairvilla MegaStores CEO Tom Berger participated in the first contest and he said he's looking forward to the next one.
"After we built the pirate ship in our Orlando store, monthly 'Pirates' movies sales doubled," he said. "Fairvilla MegaStore in Key West, which has a greater diversity in merchandise and higher browsing traffic, sold 300 percent more 'Pirates' DVDs during [the contest] than in any previous month. In addition to increased revenue, the contest provided excitement and focus in our stores."
Digital Playground CEO Samantha Lewis predicted that the second "Pirates" retail contest would be more successful than the first.
"We are expecting more than 10 times the number of applicants, so stores are really going to have to work harder this time," she said. "We are giving away 50 fabulous prizes. Of course, with the amount of attention the stores get for participating, everyone comes out for the better."
The cast for the new title includes contract stars Jesse Jane, Katsuni, Jordan, Stoya, Steele and Gabriella Fox, as well as Belladonna, Sasha Grey, Jenna Haze, Brianna Love, Abbey Brooks, Shawna Lenee, Rhylee Richards, Brea Lynn, Shyla Stylez and Veronica Rayne.
The male talent includes Evan Stone, Tommy Gunn, Steven St. Croix, Manuel Ferrara, James Deen, Marco Banderas, Mick Blue, Ben English and Charles Dera.
A teaser trailer is available at Digital Playground's official website.
