On Thursday, Sept. 18, Babeland co-founder Rachel Venning, burlesque performer Miss Indigo Blue, the Von Foxies and other special guests will get together for a party to celebrate Babeland's 15th anniversary. Rachel will share the best stories gathered during her 15 years of sex toy retailing, including the most popular picks among celebrity shoppers.
October will bring Babeland's 4th annual Sexy Jack-O-Lantern contest and a reading of erotica with Megan Clarke, Jennifer D. Munro and Delilah Marvelle.
In November, author, sex educator and director Tristan Taormino will lead a workshop.
Babeland was opened by Claire Cavanah and Rachel Venning in 1993 in response to the lack of women-friendly sex shops in Seattle. Along with carefully selected products and a pleasant place to shop, the store also offered information and encouragement to women who wanted to explore their sexuality. The store's popularity with both women and men eventually led to three more stores in New York and one in Los Angeles, which recently closed, as well as a thriving website.
The Babeland store in Seattle is located at 707 E. Pike St.
