The movie features 10 adult industry members and examines their goals and dreams, their lives before the industry and the affect of their careers on their lives.
The subjects in the documentary include performers Belladonna, Sasha Grey, Katja Kassin, Mia Rose, Roxy DeVille, Audrey Hollander and husband Otto Bauer, as well as Adult Industry Healthcare founder Sharon Mitchell, directors/producers John Stagliano and Jim Powers, and agent Mark Speigler, among other industry personalities.

Produced for Jens Hoffman’s film company, F24 Films, the production crew followed their subjects for more than 18 months, including footage shot at two consecutive Adult Entertainment Expos, as well as filming in Los Angeles and at the homes of several of the performers.
“To have someone following you around, in general, is not fun. But it was okay and they were cool,” Speigler told XBIZ. “They didn’t get in our way. It seemed like they were genuinely interested in the people — the business in general, but more so, the individuals.
“They shot on film, and on video, but a lot on film and, at one point, they had their camera stolen out of their car,” Speigler added. “They shot over a long period of time.”
Commenting on whether or not he felt that the filmmakers portrayed the cast members objectively, Speigler said that from what he’s seen of the documentary, the representation was fair.
Based in Germany, Hoffman has been making films since the early ‘90s and currently produces corporate and commercial films, as well as documentary projects often dealing with controversial topics.
“9 to 5 Days in Porn,” is his longest documentary to date, at 113 minutes. It also includes a soundtrack of music from independent and mainstream musicians, which has been called “extraordinary” by reviewers that have previewed the film.
Hoffman has won multiple film festival awards with other documentaries, including 2007’s “20 Seconds of Joy,” and “Fatima’s Hand” in 2006.
The movie will premiere Aug. 23, at the Cinema Quartier Latin 16, in Montreal.
