Tera Patrick, Evan Seinfeld Featured in RTA PSA

LOS ANGELES — The latest in a series of public service announcements for the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection [ASACP] features adult star Tera Patrick and her rocker/director husband Evan Seinfeld, as they caution parents about protecting underage users from online adult content.

“Evan and I take doing our part in the industry seriously to make the web a safer place for children. We really believe what we say in the PSA. It is not for appearances, but we take it to heart,” Patrick said.

“Certain sects of our society and our government have the adult industry under a microscope using it as a scapegoat for all things unholy. We have a social responsibility to keep adult entertainment ‘restricted to adults,’” she added. “We are so honored to have been approached by ASACP, and to be included in such an important message.

Two previous RTA PSAs had featured Wicked contract star Stormy Daniels.

“Stormy Daniels is not only one of my peers, but a friend and I am proud to stand along side her, in the name of something as important as the RTA label” Patrick said. “If we don’t police ourselves, someone else will.”

The couple talks about the “Restricted to Adult” website label, designed by the ASACP for use on adult websites as a cautionary device, which works with filtering software to prevent minors from accessing explicit images online. Launched in 2006, the RTA label now has nearly five million page link-ins.

The PSA video can be viewed on YouTube.

“Internet service providers, browsers, filtering software, and even computer operating systems such as Microsoft’s Vista offer parental control options. But for those systems to work, websites intended for ‘adults only’ need to be labeled as such. RTA makes that possible,” ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine said. “The adult entertainment industry is doing their part and we are thrilled that Tera and Evan have volunteered their time in order to remind parents to do their part by utilizing parental filtering options.”

The ASACP was recently honored by the American Society of Association Executives and The Center for Association Leadership in Washington, D.C. Several southern California cities have given recognition to the nonprofit organization, including West Hollywood, Los Angeles and Redondo Beach, and tomorrow, the ASACP will be honored in a ceremony by the city of San Diego.
