The Faultline is a popular gathering spot for the Los Angeles LGBT community and has a long history of supporting the gay adult industry. As such, the 2008 Pornathon is meant to honor efforts made by studios to promote safer sex.
“Generally porn companies are relegated to the back tables at auctions and fundraisers,” says Faultline owner Shawn Farnsworth. “Yet nothing has established the idea that aggressive, horny satisfaction can be achieved safely than the continuing output of the major gay porn companies.”
Raging Stallion Exclusive Steve Cruz is set to take the stage, while veteran stud Zak Spears will serve as a celebrity bartender.
Titan Media VP Keith Webb notes the company is proud to send TitanMen Exclusive Tony Buff to the event. Buff will give away Titan DVDs and sign copies of the 2009 TitanMen calendar.
“Shawn and his team at the Faultline have always been at the forefront of giving back to the community,” says Webb. “We are proud to be part of such a worthwhile event. We applaud Shawn for doing the right thing for the community at large and saying ‘no’ to unsafe sex and bareback films and the message they send,” Webb added. “It is time for community leaders to take a stand and do what they can to combat the rise of HIV in the gay community.”
In addition to safer sex advocacy, Farnsworth will donate all proceeds to EqualityForAll.com to aid in the campaign to defeat Proposition 8 on the November ballot, which would deny same-sex couples the right to marry.
“We have an unprecedented opportunity before us that may ultimately change the way we think about ourselves, as well as the way the world thinks of us,” Farnsworth says. “The porn industry should be a very visible part of this social evolution.”
Webb notes that “marriage equality is a civil rights issue and one we wholeheartedly support,” adding the issue is one that has a personal slant to his company, as Titan’s General Counsel Gill Sperlein will marry his partner this October.
