The donated items will be used to fill celebrity gift bags at the organization’s inaugural festival that began July 27 and continues through Aug. 9.
“People need to be aware of the fact that the novelty and sex industry does not condone violence against women and girls,” Desiree Duffie, Topco Sales' director of marketing and public relations, said. “Topco is honored to support this noble organization. I hope our involvement helps raise awareness of what this organization is about.”
UTVSLA is a coalition of activists, artists, entertainers, educators, civic leaders and citizens striving to make Los Angeles the safest city for women and girls. The organization bills the festival as “a call to arms, a celebration, and a rally” to bring the communities of Los Angeles County together with entertainment, education and empowerment.
This weekend’s scheduled events include readings on violence against women by renowned author Maya Angelou and transgender activist Calpernia Addams. For the full calendar of events click here .
