Alabama Attorney General Allegedly Caught in Gay Affair

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Last week, conservative Republican Attorney General for the State of Alabama Troy King found himself the focus of the latest political sex scandal, when alleged reports surfaced that his wife had discovered him in bed with a male assistant, and subsequently asked him to move out of their home.

The story circulated in the mainstream media as well as on several gay blogs over the weekend.

The Attorney General’s office has denied rumors of the incident and stated that there have been no plans for King to resign from office.

King, who has been Alabama’s attorney general since 2004, was appointed as chair of Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s Alabama Leadership Team in January. King is a longtime supporter of the Republican candidate.

However, after a report posted on the Pensito Review pointing out the McCain-King connection, references to King were scrubbed from McCain’s website. The action apparently added to speculation about whether or not the incident had occurred.

There was no reference to or response to media reports of the alleged incident posted on the Attorney General’s website. King has a reputation as a conservative politician. GayWired.com reported that as a law student at the University of Alabama King wrote several articles denouncing gays, affirmative action and abortion.

According to GayWired.com, King stated in one of his editorials written for U of A newspaper The Crimson White, that homosexuality is the “downfall of society” and that AIDS could be eradicated in the U.S. if “this nation’s current purveyors of perversion would refrain from committing sodomy.”
