“Our initial goal when we started Visual Ventures was to focus on non-adult community websites,” Visual Ventures general partner Miles Houck told XBIZ.
“We launched our adult sites as a ‘proof of concept’ for our application. But after seeing the rapid success and growth of our adult communities, we considered adding them to our business model.
“Unfortunately, as we entered into discussions with partners for our non-adult ventures we quickly discovered the need to divest our adult sites if we wanted to continue with our initial business model,” he added. “It was a difficult decision to make but necessary.”
The Verotic products include VeroticGuide.com, an adult networking community site, which the company said is designed to be similar to popular MySpace and Adult FriendFinder programs. It was founded in 2007.
VeroticMen.com, a gay adult community network was added to the suite in 2008.
There is also VeroticVideo.com, an adult video hosting website.
The Verotic properties are offered for sale on ebay. To access the auction site, click here. “We do have straight, gay and lesbian communities under our umbrella, and we would prefer to see one buyer — preferably a site member — acquire all of the sites together and continue to develop them as one network,” Houck said.
“If the auction reserve is not hit and we need to market the sites later this week, we will consider selling the sites separately,” he said. “We have received numerous inquiries for the entire suite of sites and do hope that they sell in auction.”
While Houck said that the properties could be instantly viable for the first-time adult webmaster or also for inclusion into an existing affiliate program.
“The Verotic suite offers numerous advantages as either a stand-alone network or as a network that can be integrated into an existing family of sites,” Houck said.
“The Verotic sites have strong brand recognition, loyal members and are ready to be converted to paid sites with an affiliate program,” he added. “Technically everything is in place to make this happen — it just requires flipping a switch.”
