Steinberg’s collection of photos captures images of transgender women who frequent Divas Nightclub, located at 1081 Post Street in the city.
The exhibition is titled “Divas of San Francisco” and will include a selection of work from a book he's releasing under the same name.
“This collection of intimate, revealing photographs portrays the individuality, diversity, and fierce integrity of a group of people who are alternately ignored and fetishized, but rarely acknowledged and appreciated for who they really are,” Steinberg said.
Good Vibrations Creative Director Steven Duncan praised Steinberg's work.
“We’re proud to stand behind David Steinberg’s work and the subjects he portrays,” he said. “It’s a tribute to the trans community, having this art opening as part of the official Pride events.”
The exhibit will run from June 26 through July 20 at the Good Vibrations Polk Street Gallery, located at l620 Polk Street. Admission is free.
