Zoey Zane Murder Suspect Fights Extradition

WICHITA, Kan. — Israel Mireles, the suspect in the murder of Internet adult model Emily Sander, aka adult model Zoey Zane, is fighting extradition to the U.S. from Mexico, to stand trial.

Lawyers for Mireles have filed an appeal on extradition, which will be reviewed by the Mexican courts, and a decision on the appeal may not be reached for several months.

Mireles was arrested at a family member’s home in Melchor Muzquiz, Mexico, in December.

He is charged with capital murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in the death Sander, who disappeared on Thanksgiving weekend. Her body was found little more than a week later, 50 miles east of the town of El Dorado, Kan., where she was allegedly last seen leaving a bar with a man matching Mireles’ description.

The suspect had been living in a local motel, and after the slaying it was reported that Mireles’ room had been in a shambles and had evidence of blood spatter.

At the time, Mireles was said to have picked up his pregnant, 16-year old girlfriend and the pair fled to Mexico.

The story was widely publicized in the national press after it was discovered that 18-year old college student Sander had briefly appeared on adult websites, including her own solo girl site.
