Mexico to Extradite Suspect in Zoey Zane Murder

WICHITA, Kan. — The suspect in the murder of Internet model Emily Sander, aka Zoey Zane, will be extradited from Mexico to Kansas to face capital murder charges, the Kansas attorney general’s office announced yesterday.

Israel Mireles was apprehended in Melchor Muzquiz, Mexico nearly a month after the Thanksgiving weekend disappearance of Sander last year. He was being held pending extradition.

Butler County prosecutor Jan Satterfield charged Mireles with murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in the death of 18-year old Sander. Reportedly, investigators believe that the killing was planned.

The case gained national notoriety after it was discovered that Sander was the star of amateur solo-girl site ZoeyZane.com and had appeared on YourDailyGirls.com.

Sander was last seen leaving a bar in El Dorado, Kan., in the company of Mireles. After Sander was reported missing, investigator went to the motel were Mireles was staying and found evidence of a struggle and a large quantity of blood.

On Nov. 29, 2007 Sander's body was found by the side of the highway 50 miles east of El Dorado near a bedspread that was similar to one taken from the motel.
