Good Vibrations Garners 2 Grand Marshals for S.F. Pride Festival

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration has recognized as grand marshals two senior staff members of adult retailer Good Vibrations.

In its 38th year, the annual gay pride festival has named Good Vibrations President Theresa Sparks as Lifetime Achievement Grand Marshal and staff sexologist Carol Queen as Honorary Grand Marshal.

Sparks said she was proud to receive the honor.

“These are historic times for LGBT civil rights in the state of California and the U.S. and, once again, San Francisco is at the forefront of the movement,” Sparks said. “For more than 30 years Good Vibrations has been part of the fabric of this city and I am equally proud that this company has been able to live the values of San Francisco and also push the envelope on issues such as sex education, employee rights and transgender inclusion.”

Queen has been with Good Vibrations since 1990. She served as Community Grand Marshal in the 2001 San Francisco Pride Parade.

"I'm so honored to once again be able to represent Good Vibrations and my other communities as part of [San Francisco] Pride,” Queen said. “Being chosen as honorary Grand Marshal really demonstrates to me a commitment on S.F. Pride's part to sex-positivity, and acknowledging the importance of sexuality and erotic diversity to all of us."

This year's San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration will feature 200 parade contingents, 300 exhibitors and 19 stages and venues. It's set for June 28 and 29 in San Francisco.
