TB started with the urban studio 10 years ago, working in various positions during his tenure and playing a pivotal role in helping the company, along with studios such as Video Team, to form what has become a thriving ethnic market.
“At the time, there weren’t many black companies out in the market, and most of the videos were terrible — the lighting, the scripts, the girls; it was like watching TV without an antenna,” TB told XBiz. “We knew we could get into that market and really blow it up.”
TB joins a growing stable of directors on West Coast’s exclusive contract list, including L.G. and Alexander Devoe.
Predominantly known for gonzo, TB also directs features and said planning pre-production and casting are underway for an ethnic reality based series.
He said he and the company’s other directors share a commitment to making sure their films deliver on the promise of their box covers.
“I have a thing for taking new [female] talent and matching them up with guys who can do their stuff and help get the most out of the girls, help them really let go and get into it,” TB told XBiz. “I want it to be an unforgettable experience for both the performer and the person watching the video.”
During his tenure with West Coast, TB has done “everything from sales to making deliveries” and also has acted as the company’s general manager. The experience, he said, has made him acutely aware of what both fans and distributors are looking for in a product — nicely shot sex with fresh faces.
“Why bother to release a scene if the sex is not up to par?” TB said. “In a market over saturated with products, my scenes have to feature heated, passionate sex. If I shoot a scene and the sex is just not what I expected, I delete that scene and shoot another.”
TB’s current lines for West Coast include, “Azz & Mo Ass,” “Bomb Ass White Booty,” “Latin Booty Talk” and “X-Rated Sistas,” among others.
