By adult industry standards it was early, but sleepy-eyed starlets showed up by 9 a.m. to take photos with tournament players, as the Bloody Marys flowed in the clubhouse and continental breakfast was served.
Tournament founder and Motley Crüe frontman Vince Neil showed up with his own tour bus and a custom-made hotrod golf cart, complete with blazing flames painted on the front end and wicked tailfins on the back.
“This is our 12th year,” Neil told XBIZ. “It’s great. I love it so much, and it’s grown so much since the very first year. Now we’re on two courses, and we’re sold out every year. We’ve raised a lot of money for Skylar Neil Foundation, so what could be better? It feels great.
“I always have a good time,” Neil added. “That’s what this event is about: rock ’n’ roll, booze and girls — and giving back.”
The event, which was founded in memory of Neil’s daughter Skylar who lost her battle with cancer in 1995, has generated more than $1 million in revenue along with two other Skylar Neil Foundation fund raisers: Vince Neil’s Off the Strip Poker Tournament and Vince Neil’s Music Cruise. Proceeds from the events have funded various children’s charities, leukemia and AIDS research and benefited neurogenetic disorders such as autism and Down syndrome.
The foundation’s events are some of the only fund raisers that bring together participants from the mainstream, music and adult industries.
The mariachis serenaded the crowd out to a waiting fleet of golf carts. But before being transported to holes on two courses, an auction was held for the honor of having adult starlet Gina Lynn accompany one of the teams for the day. Lynn, who is a golfer, promised to play the course.
Super starlet Tera Patrick and rocker husband Evan Seinfeld conducted the auction, with bidding starting at $1,000.
“Come on you guys,” Patrick said, encouraging the crowd. “Gina Lynn wants to take a swing at your balls!”
“She’ll work your stiff shaft,” Seinfeld added, drawing hoots and hollers.
The golf date with Lynn was eventually sold for $3,500.
Patrick had just returned from Japan where she had been visiting Seinfeld as his band, the Spyderz, toured Asia, Australia and New Zealand. She stopped to speak for a moment about her new tattoo — a traditional dragon design that covers her right arm.
“I got it done in Tokyo,” Patrick explained. “It's the Japanese traditional tattoo called tebori. It’s a dragon, because dragons symbolize good luck. It’s mostly black and grey, but the cherry blossoms will be red with a yellow middle. I’m going to have some wind bars added, because dragons go with the wind.”
The tattoo, which is not yet complete, is by Hori Taku, a renowned tebori master. In the traditional style, Patrick’s tattoo was applied by hand, using tools that have several needles attached to a handle. The needles are dipped into ink and then pressed into the skin. Patrick said that it was painful, but worth it to go through the ancient process.
Because it was a sunny day on the course, Patrick was careful to keep the new tattoo covered with the sleeve of her dress.
Another celebrity that showed up on the course was Kevin Federline, aka K-Fed, who was there with a group of friends to play a full round.
At the hole sponsored by Jägermeister, Federline declined the free shots and Jäger Bombs, but was having a good time with fellow golfers who wanted to take pictures, and was being flirted with by the orange-clad Jägerettes.
Starlet Brittany Skye, who was an honorary Jägerette, opted to join some golfers on their cart and go for a few rounds.
On the Sky course at the 10th hole, sponsored by Versatile Media, the Star Factory and tournament organizer April Storm, a golfer who thought that he got a hole-in-one, stripped down naked and took a victory lap, only to find out that his ball was just nearly in the cup.
Also on the 10th, adult stars Flower Tucci, Brooke Haven, Kayla Page, Gianna Lynn and Amber Peach kept the golfers distracted — especially Tucci, who had some fun with the players’ balls before they teed off.
Just around the corner, adult starlets Taylor Wane and Smokin' Mary Jane manned their hole. Jane brought a parasol to protect herself from the midday sun.
Déjà Vu contract star Sunny Lane said she had "a hole on one side and the other," representing Déjà Vu on the Sky course and Hustler Clubs on the Shadow side.
Dressed in red, Evil Angel's Karen Stagliano and starlets Sasha Grey and Lexi Love were on the Shadow course.
"I like it that you can come out for the day and have fun. There's a lot of companies and no competition, and folks are totally drunk — though the guys are totally respectful and having a lot of fun," Stagliano said.
Performer/agent Shy Love also hosted a hole, with several girls from her agency, Adult Talent Management.
Production company Pink Visual was well represented on their tee by starlet Alana Evans, whose hair was dyed pink.
An eight-year veteran of the tournament named Greg, accompanied by his two buddies, Fucked-Up Frank and Bob, said, "The girls are awesome. Thank God the weather is warm today, so I can see them with their clothes off. I think I have my long putter today.
"Every year we come to this thing, and it's our little weekend to play away and have a great time, so we look forward to it," Greg added.
The good times were fueled by several holes with various liquor sponsors, including X-tacy vodka, Vince Neil's Tres Rios tequila and the aforementioned Jägermeister.
After a long day on the course, carts shuttled guests back to the clubhouse for a Mexican buffet and celebrity auction hosted for many years by Playboy Radio's Tiffany Granath.
"It's a great auction and a good cause," Granath said. "Vince is a very good friend of mine. I don't do a lot of this stuff because I'm on radio every day, but this is the one event every year that I make time for, because it's a lot of friends and it's like a family reunion. It's the same suspects every year that are going to spend a lot of money for a good cause and it just makes me happy.
"There are no attitudes here. I've been to other charity events where it's very uptight and chi-chi," Granath said further. "But this event, everyone comes here and they’re human. I'm honored to be here, and I'll be here forever, as far as I'm concerned."
The auction featured several guitars autographed by members of Motley Crüe and Led Zeppelin, as well as other bands. Also on the block were sports memorabilia and opportunities to be VIP guests at several events. Two "Pussy Party" packages donated by adult director-producer Cousin Stevie went for $4,000 apiece.
Other adult celebrities on hand for the event included performers Randy West, Savannah Jayne, Precious, Winter Skye, Marie Luv and A! Entertainment’s Tony Batman, among others.
Mainstream celebrities included Warrant band members Mike Fasano and Jerry Dixson, former Ratt bass player Robbie Crane, Styx bass player Picky Phillips and Canadian hockey player Chris Dingman.
Event sponsors included ZRock.com and Red Bull energy drink, among others.
