Under the terms of the stipulation agreed upon in U.S. District Court in Denver by the parties in the Free Speech Coalition et al vs. Alberto Gonzales, the DOJ will not conduct any inspections or pursue any claims against FSC members, however non-members will not be protected under the agreement.
June 25, 2 P.M. PST is the cutoff point for new members, both individuals and business owners, who will be protected under the stipulation. However, the deal brokered with the DOJ will only stave off federal prosecutions against FSC members until Sept. 7, unless an Aug. 8 preliminary injunction hearing determines whether to extend the injunction or the judge delays his decision.
In response to the high volume of webmasters and adult professionals applying for FSC membership, FSC Communications Director Tom Hymes told XBiz that FSC representatives will not be able to call people back right away, and asked for patience and trust that those who file their applications will make the June 25 deadline.
Hymes told XBiz that adult business owners who want to change their DBAs should email the FSC at execdir@freespeechcoalition. All DBA changes should be submitted to the FSC by Monday, June 27, so that the FSC master membership list will be as complete as possible.
The FSC’s call center can be reached at 800-681-0403. The center will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. PST June 24 until the June 25 deadline. Credit cards can be processed over the telephone.
