Bondage Ball Fit to be Tied on Saturday Night

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Saturday night rain clouds drizzled on attendees of the Bondage Ball, but by no means dampened the enthusiasm as crowds packed the Henry Fonda Theater on Hollywood Blvd., for the event sponsored by fetish production company Gwen Media.

Stilt walkers from L.A.-based performance group Machina Candeo grooved on the dance floor early in the evening. Several costumed performers danced on hi-tech, spring-load metal stilts to German industrial electronica, spun by DJs overlooking the crowd from a balcony above.

Latex, rave and BDSM fashions collided everywhere, as strict latex doms strutted their stuff with dog-collared subs following not too far behind, several on leashes. Gothic Lolita punk princesses in frilly tulle tutus and andro-looking boys in Nazi drag made the scene. A man dressed like Captain Jack Sparrow and looking as if he’d just gotten off work at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre playfully flogged a girl near the front of the stage.

Detroit’s Chaos Productions put on an amazing demonstration of latex mummification, with willing slaves vacuum-sealed into latex frames and then tortured mercilessly by a red-and-black-hooded rubber queen with a wand vibrator. Subs also took turns on a leather cross.

Goddess Soma put on a hypnotic flogging display that drew crowds throughout the night. Her skill with the floggers and straps were demonstrated on several subjects, as she whipped them to the beat of the music. At one point, she flogged a pale-skinned redhead and her slender brunette boyfriend as they writhed in a mixture of pleasure and pain, on the dais.

Adult industry personalities making the scene included Evil Angel director Jake Malone, as well as performer Jeremy Steele. A! Entertainment’s Tony Batman was also there to enjoy the festivities.

Avant-garde adult filmmaker Jack the Zipper made a rare appearance accompanied by Digital Playground contract performer Stoya, who was introduced in “Razordolls,” his 2007 release for Pulse Distribution.

Jack, who has wrapped his upcoming release for Spice Studios’ Downtown line, “Fuck the World,” was already talking about the follow-up title he will direct with a working title of “Enter the Peep Show.” He hinted at the movie having authentic sideshow performers.

Morphine Magazine sponsored a photo booth with well-known L.A. fetish scene photojournalist Tommy O, who was there to sign autographs.

Perish and his Carnival of Kink brought a troupe of scary clowns that prowled the packed dance floor.

Author Mojo El Diablo was there with his new book “Lost Anarchy: Time to Slander the Posers,” in which he attacks everything from weekend Goth hipsters to cover band Metal Skool.

The evening’s stage performances were started by a suspension of model Marli Jane in a web of plastic packing wrap from a metal circle above the stage.

Madame Sunset and her Hollywood Kittenz performed a bondage burlesque routine, followed by the Venus Evil Dolls and their “circus of animals” with three dancers painted like tigers and one like an elephant.

Headlining the show was Isabella Sinclaire and the Gwen Media Girl Brigade, dancing in cages on either side of the stage, and whipping the party vibe up a few notches.

Adult retailers Babeland and HilarysParties.com manned merchandise tables throughout the night.

“It was 3 o’clock in the morning and the lights hadn’t come up,” said event organizer from Black and Blue Media Jay Moyes. “It was crowded, people were dancing and having a great time. What an incredible event.”
