Kink.com Hires New Public Relations Manager

SAN FRANCISCO — Kink.com has announced that writer and sex educator Thomas Roche has taken the position of public relations manager for the company. In addition to his PR duties, Roche will also help to establish educational and community outreach activities as part of the company’s cultural mission.

"Thomas doesn't just bring along his marketing and advertising background," Kink.com founder Peter Acworth said. "He's been a community sex educator for fifteen years and a professional sexuality writer since the 1980s. He understands our mission, not only to provide fetish entertainment but to change the world's thinking about alternative sexualities in general."

A longtime Bay Area resident, Roche has volunteered for the San Francisco Sex Information organization since 1993; the nonprofit provides classes in sex education for healthcare workers, mental health professionals, writers, speakers, educators and the general public.

Roche was also marketing manager at San Francisco landmark adult retailer Good Vibrations from 2001-2004. From 2005 until recently, he was the managing editor at Eros-Zine, the erotic arts and culture webzine founded by Eros Guide CEO Byron Mayo.

"Having written about sex for more than two decades and taught sex Ed as well,” Roche said, “I believe Kink.com is one of the few porn companies where the dialog about sexuality is driven by the principles of the BDSM community. The work is edgy and taboo, but even more importantly it's safe, sane and consensual."

Roche will be responsible for media contact, as well as outreach to sexual minority communities, and he will also conduct press tours of Kink.com’s headquarters at the San Francisco Armory building.

Members of the press can contact Roche at thomas@kink.com.
