Last weekend’s LA Couples event was closed by the city because it exceeded an occupancy limit of 49 people. Similar events can draw upwards of 400 LA Couples members.
“The city is being very accommodating through this, actually,” Entertainium owner Lynn Borman told XBiz. Borman also manages LA Couples, for which she is arranging temporary weekend lodging at Palm Desert’s Aquafinity. “We really expect the occupancy issue to be sorted out within the next few weeks.”
Freedom Distributing president Paul Interlandi, who also produces swingers’ lifestyle videos and hosts regular seminars on legal issues affecting the adult industry, said the city’s restriction will not affect his seminar with attorney Greg Piccionelli, scheduled for June 18 at Entertainium’s space southwest of downtown Los Angeles.
“Entertainium’s studio license, allowing it to shoot movies and have wrap parties, will also allow the place to keep running,” he said, “and seminars like mine don’t fall under the same umbrella as the LA Couples event.”
Noting recent events like the XXX Stld and amended 2257 regulations affecting the adult industry as a whole, Borman said that, by comparison, the City of L.A. “was very, very friendly as we’re working this out.”
She added, "We expect to be back in full swing very soon."
