Sponsored by Camz.com, DatingGold, Emc2Billing, Eroticy.com, IWantU.com and Netbilling, Tuesday’s edition of the Porn Poker Tour showed that PPT has established itself as a mainstay of industry tradeshow events — quite likely the single most popular recurring side-event ever conceived in connection with adult industry tradeshows
The room was packed well before the final call for players to take their seats, as XBIZ Hollywood attendees hovered near the Cyberage-sponsored bar, sipping (in some cases, guzzling) drinks, swapping stories, trading business cards and mentally preparing themselves to test their skill against some of the industry’s most adept poker enthusiasts.
To kick things up a notch, Dan Hogue of Camz.com announced that “bounties” had been placed on the heads of two players, Gary Dginger of Cyberage and Hugo Ohira of SilverCash — meaning that an extra cash bonus would be paid out to the players who eliminated either Dginger or Ohira.
It did not take long for the first bounty to be collected; in the evening’s very first hand, Ohira was taken out by Harmik Gharapetian of Epoch, as three players went “all-in” virtually immediately.
Throughout the evening, more players fell by the wayside, as bad luck, bad strategy and good liquor conspired to make victims of players in steady fashion. Surviving for a while on the not-so-audacious tactic of repeatedly folding without venturing so much as a blind-matching wager, this reporter was eventually (and predictably) stripped of chips by a table filled with superior players, including Hogue and Gharapetian.
As of around 12:30 a.m., when this reporter judiciously retired for some much-needed sleep, the tournament was going strong, having been pared down to around 15 surviving players.
Regardless of its ultimate outcome, this edition of the Porn Poker Tour had already proven a resounding success long before the final flop was turned, as evidenced by the broad smiles, riotous laughter and healthy dose of trash-talking that have become hallmarks of this cherished tradeshow tradition.
