“When you get to the level of [releasing] eight to 10 movies a month,” Collins told XBiz, “you can lose control over the process. That’s the way we were two years ago. Now we’re moving up from four to five titles a month.”
Collins said that rumors of his selling the company were greatly exaggerated.
“This is news to me,” Collins said. “If I’m selling it, I wonder how much I’m getting? I hope I’m getting a lot.” He speculated that “someone who used to be in the industry but can’t get back in” was trying to smear the company.
Collins admitted to bad business decisions in the past and a lack of personal engagement with his own company. He said these were factors in Elegant Angel’s decrease in quality prior to what he called the company’s rebuilding over the past two years.
“I spent a lot of time and effort rebuilding this business,” Collins said, “and the product shows how proud I am of this company.”
Collins will be shooting “Squirtwoman 3” this month with Cytherea and Cindy Crawford, and has added several new directors to the company’s roster, including performer Kami Andrews.
"I interview performers and directors to see what turns them on,” Collins said. “And the excitement shows on film. I would rather have a grainy, poorly-lit scene with real energy apparent in it than some perfectly-produced cookie cutter scene that could never actually happen in real life.”
