According to FSE, changes to the grant-making process include the ability for eligible nonprofits to apply every year for beneficiary status and consideration of grant requests that include program staff salaries.
An electronic version of the 2008 Beneficiary Application is available on the Folsom Street Events website linked to a PDF file.
Applications are due no later than noon on Feb. 1 to 965 Mission St., Suite 200, San Francisco, CA, 94103.
Funds are given to benefit organizations that support public health, human resources and the arts. There are three categories of annual grant making: major beneficiary, supporting beneficiary and national community grants.
Each applicant is asked to carefully review each category, to ensure its agency meets the basic qualifications, including volunteer recruitment. National community grants are made on an invitation-only basis and the application should not be used to make a request.
In 2007, FSE donated more than $350,000 in revenue to various charities from sponsored events, including the Up Your Alley Fair, Bay of Pigs, Magnitude and the Folsom Street Fair.
