“I get an overwhelmingly positive response, even from self-proclaimed porn-hating feminists, which is really, really flattering,” Tyler told XBIZ. “The series is popping up in blogs here and there with positive response. It’s very cool. ‘Handyman’ was just reviewed positively from a sex-positive women’s blog in Belfast, so it’s getting a little notice worldwide and I’m very excited by the response.”
The series features improvised dialogue and Tyler’s point-of-view style shooting of male talent performing solo for the camera. The series was nominated for Best Solo series at this year’s AVN Awards; a category usually reserved for female solo titles.
“The word of mouth that has spread throughout the male talent in the industry from ‘Handyman 1, 2 and 3,’ and the 30 guys that have already had fun shooting it with me have allowed me to get guys that maybe, normally, wouldn’t be available. It’s a good thing,” Tyler said. “The average age of the participants this times skews a little bit younger, and also, I think that the showmanship this time is a little bit more, there’s more confidence in the performers, and a little bit more monologue and it’s very hot.”
"Handyman 4" features Chris Strokes, Dane Cross, Doni Blass, Eric Swiss, Jason Arrow, Jason Brown, John Espizedo, Kris Slater, Nico Stallone and Nicolas Gage.
Tyler also directs several other lines for Mercenary Pictures, including “Fresh Out the Box,” “Superwhores,” “Black Moon Risin’” and “Ironhead.”
"Tina's always been a world-class director,” Mercenary founder Lexington Steele said. “More importantly, she has her finger on the pulse of what women want and a male solo series shot for women is something that the market — the female market — was missing. It took someone like Tina, who knows and understands her fans, to come up with an innovative series like ‘Handyman.’”
