“Trannyshack: The Movie” spotlights Soldier’s drag-punk band Pepperspray, a regular house favorite at Trannyshack.
“Trannyshack has much less to do with traditional pageant-style drag than it does with Vaudeville, burlesque, performance art and punk rock culture,” said Soldier, who plays recurring character Simon Jett on the NakedSword porn soap “Wet Palms” and won a 2004 GayVN Best Actor award for his work in Raging Stallion’s “A Porn Star is Born.”
Soldier appears in the movie as his Pepperspray alter-ego, Precious Moments, along with bandmates Tinkle, Princess Kennedy, Peggy L’eggs, Jordan L’Moore, Jennifer Hope and Tim Perdue.
“We’re sort of a cross between the Partridge Family, the Supremes and Nirvana,” he said of his band, which has opened for Cher and the Scissor Sisters. “[But] the official comparison is that we’re the Spice Girls meets the Sex Pistols.”
Trannyshack is the brainchild of Heklinka, the club’s hostess and promoter, and often features performances by well-known adult entertainers. Iconic gay adult impresario Chi Chi LaRue will be filling in as hostess on May 17.
“Trannyshack: The Movie” is currently making its way around the independent-movie festival circuit.
Soldier also will be featured in the upcoming documentary, “24 Hours on Craigslist,” scheduled for release this summer, and has shot a pilot of a possible Showtime original series called “Movies for Guys Who Like Guys.”
