Nice N Naughty owner Simon Prescott told XBIZ that the 2nd annual awards are more sought after than ever before and have become a well-respected measure of success in the U.K. adult industry.
"This is ongoing awareness and promotion of the Smash Pictures label in the U.K.," Prescott said.
Prescott said that before an adult film can be sold in the U.K., it must be classified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). In order for it to be sold in department stores and other nonsex shops around the country, the film must be available in a softer cut rated "18." The hardcore version of each film must be rated "R18" before it can be sold in licensed sex shops.
Prescott said that both the "18" and "R18" versions of both Smash titles were accepted by the BBFC and nominated for awards.
Smash Vice President Stuart Wall told XBIZ that he is very pleased with the company's exclusive distribution partnership with Nice N Naughty and the positive response Smash's content has received in the U.K.
"The attention we're getting on these nominations is a sign to continue giving the customers what they want," Wall said. "We have a lot more lined up to increase our name recognition in Europe and our relationship with Simon and Nice N Naughty couldn't be better."
Prescott said that "Secretaries Day" has been especially popular in his 11 licensed Nice N Naughty retail stores, and even was the No. 1 downloaded movie at U.K. online VOD site StrictlyBroadband.com.
"It's selling like hotcakes in the U.K. in the "R18" licensed stores, and its our No.1 top seller," Prescott said.
Nice N Naughty Wholesale also is the exclusive U.K. DVD distributor for Wicked Pictures and Vouyer Media.
