New Apple Operating System Hits Stores Oct. 26

CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple's new operating system Leopard will hit stores Oct. 26, four months behind schedule but still in time to improve productivity for adult webmasters and producers who use Macs.

Priced at $129, the new OS boasts more than 300 new features.

Digital Playground founder Joone was one of the Mac faithful who waited in line for an iPhone last summer. He told XBIZ that he looks forward to upgrading his Mac as soon as possible.

"Internally these new features will let us work faster and more effectively," Joone said. "The new tools in Leopard are light-years ahead of what you find in Vista."

These new features include:

  • A "time machine" feature that backs up all information, similar to Windows' System Restore.
  • A new search feature that lets users search all computers connected to the same network.
  • A new feature on iChat lets users on webcams send each other photo slide-shows.
  • An Internet feature that lets users capture online content and instantly make a desktop widget that streams feeds from websites. For a demo of this feature, click here.
  • For more information on Leopard, visit Apple.com.
