Wasteland’s Colin Rowntree Is Newest XBIZ Blogger

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Colin Rowntree, the founder of the venerable BDSM website Wasteland.com, has launched a blog on XBIZ.com today. He is the latest industry veteran tapped by XBIZ to weigh in on industry issues.

Rowntree’s blog is titled "Waste Not, Want Not," and includes the descriptor: “An ongoing series of mutterings on the industry from the perspective of Colin, who has been in it since 1994.” The most current blog posting can be found on the front page of XBIZ.com.

“I’m really glad Colin’s blog is live,” XBIZ Publisher Tom Hymes said. “I think Colin is a great choice to have an industry-oriented blog, not only because he’s been around for a long time, but mostly because he has strong opinions and is not afraid to express them. At the same time, he’s a gentleman and a scholar, but I have no doubt we can keep his finer impulses in check so that he will focus on more nasty, profane and objectionable subjects. At least I hope so!”

Rowntree told XBIZ he is prepped and ready to go, despite initial thoughts.

"When [XBIZ President Alec] Helmy and Tom Hymes approached me earlier this year, asking me to become one of their bloggers,” Rowntree said, “I said to them, ‘What in the world can I possibly say in a blog? I don't even like blogs!’

"But, after some gentle persuasion, they convinced me that being the 'dinosaur' in the industry would add some historic perspective that might be appreciated by the gentle readers of XBIZ. So, I have signed on and will be sending out my random mutterings a few times a week on anything in the industry that feels important to me. I'm sure my posts will piss some folks off, but hey, it's better than posting to a chat board and getting flamed.”
