Online Auction to Offer Adult.mobi, Other Dating mTLDs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Domain name marketplace Sedo.com will hold a dot-mobi mobile web address auction Oct. 31 to offer companies dating-themed mobile top-level domain names including Adult.mobi and Fantasy.mobi.

The first dot-mobi auction sold 100 "premium" mobile domains — including Hosting.mobi, Insurance.mobi and Bank.mobi — and brought in more than $850,000. The names were set aside by dot-mobi top-level domain management firm dotMobi.

Vance Hedderel, director of public relations and communications at dotMobi, told XBIZ that Sex.mobi and Porn.mobi also will soon be auctioned, but could not specify in which future auction they would be available.

Dot-mobi auctions will be held through January, dotMobi CEO Neil Edwards said.

Other dot-mobi mTLDs to be auctioned Oct. 31 include Gay.mobi, Date.mobi and Lesbians.mobi.
