Barcelona Erotic Film Festival Closes With Awards

BARCELONA — The 15th annual Barcelona International Erotic Film Festival culminated last night with the presentation of show awards to adult industry members from all over the world representing every genre of the adult film industry.

Held Oct. 3-7, the Barcelona festival is the oldest adult film festival in Europe. This year marks also the last time the festival will be located at the La Farga de l’Hospitalet and festival organizers currently are considering new sites for next year’s event.

Attendance in Barcelona was estimated at 57,000 over the course of four days.

Award winners from the U.S. adult industry included Evil Angel’s “Fashionistas Safado” for Best Picture. Best Actor honors went to Rocco Siffredi for his role in “Fashionistas Safado,” and Best Actress to Katsuni for her performance in “French Connection.” Best 100 Percent Sex Movie went to Harmony Films' “Backstage.”

Best Supporting Actor was awarded to Rob Malone, while Best Supporting Actress was scooped up by Spanish native Rebecca Linares.

The Best Lesbian Porn award went to Private’s “Girl Girl Studio” series produced by Moire/Candy, and Best Gay Movie and Best Director went to Kristen Bjorn for his “El Rancho.”

Best Gay Actor was awarded to Jean Franko for his role in “El Rancho,” while Best Supporting Actor was taken by Alberto de Palma for Jalif Studios’ “Dirty Raw Bastards.”

Two of San Francisco’s gay fetish studios also received awards from the film festival judges, including Hot House Entertainment for “Black/Blue” and Titan Media for “Boiler.”

Best Transsexual Movie went to Nacho Vidal’s “Mission: Transsexual.”

In addition to the awards, the festival paid special tribute to Evil Angel director Nacho Vidal. Another Evil Angel helmer, Belladonna, received a special Jury’s Choice Award. A Public’s Choice Award for Best Director was presented to Pierre Woodman.
