Acme will be distributing Playboy-branded games, images, video clips, voice clips, ringtones and text services in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
“Playboy has very strong brand recognition in Southeast Asia," Acme Mobile Founder and CEO Paul Meyers said. “We’ve worked closely with the Playboy team to create a regionally appropriate mobile offering that features the fun and sexiness of the classic Playboy lifestyle, while keeping in mind the traditional values of the region.
"With our direct distribution, Acme can ensure our content is appropriately positioned and marketed from carrier decks while Acme’s Amob.com network allows distribution directly to consumers in areas where carriers can’t.”
Founded in 2002, Acme Mobile distributes mobile entertainment content in Southeast Asia, including games, images, music and video, through its network of more than 70 carriers and portals across 15 Asian countries. Acme Mobile also operates its own direct-to-consumer mobile entertainment portals, Amob.com and Wap.Amob.com. Acme Mobile is a privately held company with offices in Singapore, Bangkok and Manila.
“Acme and their Southeast Asian distribution network are a perfect fit for Playboy’s needs,” said Chris Petrovic, VP of Digital Media for the Playboy Media Group. “We were really very impressed with Acme’s knowledge of the different Southeast Asian markets and local sensitivities. Together, Playboy and Acme have crafted a product that we believe will be hugely successful, bringing many new customers to the Playboy brand.”
