The contest, which ran through the last two weeks of August, offered fans a chance to log onto the movie’s blog and guess the identity of the star of “Amazônia.” Pictures of the mystery performer with his face blurred out where posted along with clues.
On Sunday, the movie’s star was revealed to be Buckshot Man Danny Roddick. Contest winners were chosen at random from those participants that correctly guessed Roddick’s identity.
First runner-up Brian J. of San Francisco received Danny Roddick dog tags used in the production of the film as well as other props and a signed copy of both DVDs.
Third place winners Darin L. of Rancho Cordova; Calif., Eric L. of San Francisco; Mark W. of Champaign Ill.; Carlos R. of Caracas, Venezuela; and Martyn D. of San Francisco will receive free copies of both DVDs.
In a surprise move, AMG Brasil is hosting another giveaway contest to promote pre-orders for “Amazônia: Capture” and “Amazônia: Release.”
All customers that preorder the double-disc set on the AMG website will be entered to with another iPhone loaded with content from the movie.
The last day to pre-order the title is Oct. 10; the same day that AMG Brasil will announce the winner of the contest. Additionally, a winner will be chosen everyday, from now until Oct. 10, and will receive free access to AMGBrasil.com.
“It’s the perfect prize,” Bell said. “The iPhone is currently the most coveted piece of technology on the market. It also has porn capabilities, which is a must. So the winners of this contest will be the coolest kids on their block and they’ll be able to watch our boys no matter where they are.”
“Amazônia: Capture” and “Amazônia: Release” are the first big budget release for the AMG Brasil imprint, which specializes in content shot in exotic South American locations with local models.
Roddick was loaned out from his Buckshot contract for the “Amazônia” project, to be the first professional American performer in an AMG Brasil title. The movie featured Roddick as an American tourist abducted in the rainforests of Brazil by native kidnappers.
Bell, who directed “Amazônia,” also is the owner of Athletic Model Guild, which features vintage content from former owner and renowned photographer Bob Mizner.
“You know, you can’t ever give away too much,” AMG President and Creative Director Dennis Bell said. “There’s something really rewarding about this whole process. We’ve managed to create our biggest film ever, and in the process, make a few fans really happy.”
AMG Brasil is distributed in the U.S. by Paladin Videoand internationally by COLT Studio Group.
