As a thank you to customers who bring in a 13-ounce can of food (or larger) the store gives them a free adult DVD.
In 2004, the program gathered 371 cans of food and in 2005 it raised half a ton. Krasner is looking to eclipse both marks this year.
This year’s food drive has garnered extra support from the adult community thanks to starlet Sabrina Sparx. Sparx filmed a PSA for the store to help get the word out about Food 4 Porn. The clip can be viewed here.
“I think it’s a great and innovative program and I applaud Deirdre Krasner and her staff at Playtime,” said cartoonist Angus Oblong, creator of Fox’s “The Oblongs.” “That is why I have offered my services to help design the Food4Porn.com logo. My only regret is that I didn’t become involved sooner, as I would have loved to have included information aboutFood4Porn.com onto my DVD of ‘The Oblongs,’ in stores now.”
Food 4 Porn is not the first philanthropic venture Playtime has spearheaded. In recent years, the store has made cash contributions to victims of the Indonesian tsunami, sent a shipment of condoms to an Australian town where the pharmacist refused to carry birth control, donated boxes of sex toys to liberated Iraqis, and supplied food to food pantries.
