"Llik Your Idols" features iconic artists Richard Kern, Nick Zedd, Thurston Moore, Lydia Lunch, Joe Coleman and Richard Hell; Bosio and Zedd will host a panel discussion following the premiere.
“It just fit perfectly," Bosio told XBIZ. "At the heart of 'Llik Your Idols' are a few personal as well as artistic issues, which fascinate me. One of them is how eroticism and violence intermingle in such peculiar ways. In the chaotic process of making the film, it remained an important key. That is why I was touched and honored when the Erotica Film Fest contacted me to do a screening as a premiere, for this festival itself aims at questioning eroticism and sexuality in films.”
The 69-minute documentary depicts the changing culture in 1980s New York and celebrates with cynicism the way the city changed during the Reagan and H.W. Bush administrations, and how Cinema of Transgresion and No Wave artists attacked conformity.
"'Llik Your Idols' captures the nihilistic spirit of that downbeat cinematic art movement known as the ‘Cinema of Transgression’ without stuffing it full of platitudes or faux delusional self-importance,” LAEFF Director of Programming Roger M. Mayer told XBIZ. “It's informative, well-researched and respectfully knows the terrain it dwells in. It finally puts a face to the original outsider cinematic artists that for years have had to hide in the proverbial shadows of their more well-known musical counterparts.”
LAEFF also will screen a showcase of Cinema of Transgression films made by Bruce La Bruce and Zedd.
