SexZ's Jeff Mullen told XBIZ that he doesn't like to spoof anyone who he doesn't think will be around long enough to matter, but with Lohan's recent legal issues making national headlines, he knew the timing was perfect.
"I wasn't convinced that Lindsay Lohan was that big of a deal until recently," Mullen said. "Now that she's got this legal problem, she'll be in the news for the next year."
Mullen said he has a meeting planned with James to discuss the specifics of the production. He said the film will follow in the goofy, funny footsteps of his other sex comedies, including Adam & Eve/X-Play's "J-Ho: Jenny Does Washington" and Hustler/X-Play's Britney Spears spoofs.
"I don't think there's going to be an overly huge storyline other than something along the lines of her attorneys desperately trying to get her to calm down," Mullen said. "So we'll probably just do a mirror of what's going on at the time in her life and make it fun, fast-paced and goofy."
Mullen said James was perfect for the role not just because she resembles the pop star, but also because the two stars are encountering a similar crossroads in their lives.
"[James is] at that point where she wants to be sexy, not cutesy," Mullen said. "It's the same thing with Lindsay Lohan. She's trying to be sexier than maybe her age is, so it's getting her into all kinds of goofy trouble."
James told XBIZ that the two girls also drive the same Range Rover model, and James said hers will make an appearance in the film.
"We're going to make it fun and sexy and a little hardcore, and glam it up because Lindsay is a superstar," James said.
James said she has watched several Lindsay Lohan titles to research the way she dresses and acts on screen and is excited for production to start, which Mullen said will be complete by the end of the month.
Mullen also said the film will be ready to ship at the end of October.
