FSC's Kat Sunlove to Appear on Talk Radio

CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Kat Sunlove, legislative affairs director for the Free Speech Coalition, will appear tonight on "What's On Your Mind/Talk Radio With Dave White" to discuss the ongoing fight for free speech rights.

Sunlove's appearance is part of an ongoing series addressing social issues pertaining to sexual freedom, gay, lesbian and transgender issues and freedom of expression.

"I'm in good company," Sunlove told XBiz, referring to the week's lineup of guests.

During the one-hour live program, White will also discuss Sunlove's extensive background as a Sacramento lobbyist for the FSC.

"It has been an evolutionary process," Sunlove said. "The issues over these past eight years have changed dramatically. We are now dealing with much more basic issues and less defensive issues."

Sunlove also said that there would be some discussion on the recent decision in the Extreme Associates case, and the uproar surrounding allegations that cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants is gay.

In other FSC news, Sunlove said that lobbying days for the FSC are afoot and that dates and agendas are being scheduled. Since space is limited to around 40-45 people for lobbying visits to Sacramento, applications for participation have been sent out with a March 5 deadline.

"We must present a professional face and bring our most articulate and our most knowledgeable and professional people," Sunlove said. "We want to put our best foot forward. While I adore everyone in this industry, not everyone is suited for Sacramento."

Sunlove will also be traveling to Washington next week as part of the FSC's search for a federal lobbyist. She will be meeting with a wide range of free speech organizations, including the ACLU and the Center For Democracy Now.

"I'm very excited about starting the networking process that we at the FSC need to do," Sunlove said. "We are all working toward the same goal of greater freedom of expression in this country."

"What's On Your Mind/Talk Radio With Dave White" will air on Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The show will be broadcast on Internet radio station KSAV.ORG and will be rebroadcast on Jan. 27.

Future programs will be aired on Feb. 1 with David Moon of Fairvote, The Center For Voting and Democracy; Feb. 8, with Kara Flynn of Transgender San Francisco; and on Feb. 15, Daniel Roth and Laurie McBride of Stonewall Democrats.
