Woodland Hills, Calif.-based XTV demonstrated what is billed as the “world’s first" adult set-top TV box.
The product works with a broadband connection and a conventional TV, allowing viewers a plethora of adult titles and interactive content.
Making a soft launch, XTV allows viewers to pick their content on TV using a channel guide that is similar to ones the mainstream cable and satellite companies use. The set-top box includes a remote control and operates with a digital high-quality signal.
With its full launch, the adult network will include more than 50 channels of hardcore content from studios such as Private, Legend and Filmco.
XTV will also have a “Keep What You Buy” pay-per-view service and include Pornholio Interactive content.
“I really think that this product is the one to watch for 2005,” AVN online marketing director Aly Drummond told XBiz. “It has the potential to revolutionize how we watch porn.”
XTV set-top boxes — which are small enough to carry in a hand and can be used wherever there is a TV and high-speed Internet connection — are available in both PAL and NTSC versions and cost $180. Monthly subscription fees cost $30.
