According to the Atlanta Police, Rogers hanged himself from a fence at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Nov. 7.
He was buried in Georgia on Nov. 10 and a memorial service for Rogers was held last Sunday where friends could share stories about the 39-year-old adult star.
“He was a sweet guy,” Roger’s roommate Adam Kahn told the Southern Voice. “A very loving, caring person — although he had his demons.”
Rogers was born on June 11, 1965, raised in a fundamental Baptists household and attended Bob Jones University before moving to California at the end of the 1980s.
Over the course of his career in the adult industry, Rogers won several awards, including a 1993 Gay Video Guide award for his work in Chi Chi LaRue’s “Body Search,” and a 1995 award for his work in “All About Steve.”
He returned to Georgia in 1999 and continued working with producer Dick Wadd.
“He wasn’t your run-of-the-mill porn actor,” said Kahn. “The biggest part of him was making sure everyone around him was happy. He will be missed.”
According to Kahn, the HIV-positive Rogers had become increasingly frustrated over the last few months as he was attempting to get federal assistance to purchase his own home.
