TransMedia Launching 'Digital Friction' Solution at Playboy Mansion

LOS ANGELES — TransMedia’s new platform to combat the incompatibility of computer applications is being launched at the Playboy Mansion on Sept. 22.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and a bevy of Playmates will attend the unveiling of the "Digital Friction" solution that is also marking the New York-headquartered TransMedia’s foray into the West Coast, the epicenter for the music and entertainment industries.

Digital Friction, which has been trademarked, is caused by the rapid proliferation of digital files of non-compatible proprietary systems, according to TransMedia, a provider of online media solutions.

“Digital Friction occurs when there are several applications on computers. Not all programs work hand-in-hand online,” said Glazer-Drory, whose Los Angeles-based public relations firm Echoing Soundz is representing TransMedia.

TransMedia’s Chairman and CEO Donald Leka told XBiz that “Colaborata 2.5 is an integrated interface that provides compatibility for different programs. It is a software that is browser-based and requires no software installation.”

Glazer-Drory added that Colaborata 2.5 “is an across-the-board solution. It’s a smooth platform for downloading and sharing."

According to TransMedia, Colaborata 2.5 enables users to manage media and information, collaborate, communicate, transact and distribute media.

“This satisfies what we’ve seen as critical next-generation tools for corporate and individual multimedia creation and distribution. TransMedia has developed their solutions at extremely attractive price points,” said Gerry Kaufhold, senior analyst at InStat/MDR, a research firm.

Glazer-Drory said that TransMedia is targeting the music and entertainment industry and Hollywood.
