XRCO Awards Announced

LOS ANGELES — The X-Rated Critics Organization’s annual awards ceremony took place Aug. 19 at the Century Club in Century City.

Instead of golden Oscar statuettes, reviewers who cover adult entertainment for print and Internet news outlets bestowed trophies shaped like hearts upon top talent in 24 different categories. Evan Stone hosted the crowded invitation-only show, which was sponsored by Wicked Pictures.

And the winners are: Wicked’s “Beautiful” won in the Best Video category. Elegant Angel’s “Compulsion” got the nod for Best Film. Jules Jordan won the Best Director trophy.

Ashley Blue received the Female Performer of the Year honor. Manuel Ferrara was voted Male Performer of the Year. Ben English won the New Stud prize, while Lauren Phoenix prevailed over stiff competition and walked away with the New Starlet, as well as the Orgasmic Analist awards.

In the Single Performance actress category, Ashley Long won for Elegant Angel’s “Compulsion.” Randy Spears took the Single Performance actor trophy for “Space Nuts,” which also won in the Best Comedy or Parody competition.

Sabrine Maui and Steve Holmes were awarded, respectively, the Unsung Siren and Unsung Swordsman awards. Cytherea won in the Teen Cream Dream category, while Julie Night took the Superslut honors.

In the multi-party categories, Jenna Jameson and Carmen Luvana snagged the Girl/Girl prize for Digital Sin’s “My Plaything – Jenna Jameson 2.” Manuel Ferrara scored an additional prize for his Couple Sex Scene with Jewel De’Nyle in Puritan Video Productions’ “Babes in Pornland 14: Bubble Butt Babes.” Ferrara shared yet another award with Julie Night and Steve Holmes for Best Three-Way in Elegant Angel’s “Dirty Tricks.”

Mary Carey’s gubernatorial candidacy in California’s recall election propelled her to win the race for Mainstream’s Adult Media Favorite 2003. The porn politico beat her fellow nominees Jenna Jameson, Ron Jeremy and Belladonna.

Selena Steele, James Avalon and Seymore Butts were elected to XRCO’s Hall of Fame. A camera crew filmed Butts for his “Family Business” reality series on the Showtime cable TV network. Mark Stone videotaped the star-studded affair for Wicked Pictures.
