The video is destined to be the biggest selling adult movie of all time, trumping “Pam & Tommy Lee: Hardcore and Uncensored,” which featured Pamela Lee-Anderson's and former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee’s private moments.
The 62-minute video, which is slated for a release on Wednesday, includes footage of Paris Hilton’s and boyfriend Rick Solomon’s sexploits three years ago. "1 Night” also includes Hilton partying in a nightclub and videotaping herself in the bathroom.
At a retail price of $59, the two-disc DVD/VHS-format video could generate $17.7 million in domestic and international pre-order sales for the Chatsworth, Calif.-based company.
In April, Red Light inked a distribution deal with Solomon, who previously launched his own website, TrustFundGirls.com, showing the Hilton video. There, he marketed a re-digitized version of the sex romp for $50 per download.
The footage featuring Hilton and the former husband of Shannen Doherty, the “90210” star, has been mired in legal battles since the taping, from battles with Seattle-based Marvad Corp. over distribution rights to lawsuits against Solomon and the Hilton family.
The amount and terms of the Red Light deal were not disclosed.
Red Light, which specializes in “gonzo” porn, also included four special scenes in "1 Night" that showcase the company's other titles.
In an apparent strategic move by Red Light, the video debuts one week before Hilton begins her second season of FOX-TV’s “The Simple Life,” a reality TV show.
"We were able to work faster and move up the release date," Red Light President David Joseph told XBiz.
In related company news, Joseph said that 5-year-old Red Light is planning to launch a sex toy company.
